Mr. Mushnik

So I love that show from the beginning.

I got to come back... 34 years later, to the West Side Theater and play Mr. Mushnik.

So that was like a bucket list thing.

Now that I was older, I could play Mr. Mushnik, and that was really fun to go back and do.

Yeah.

As you were, I'm assuming you saw the show, I'm literally rolling this, but seeing the show again in the West Side before you went on to play Mushnik, like, was there anything that you're like, oh, would I change that about my character interpretation regarding Seymour, or things you just find that are different that surprised you in a good way with the new, like, the new off-brand revival?

I was happy to see that the Broadway revival was extremely faithful to the spirit of the original.

And in a way, the size of the West Side Theater was very comparable to what the Orpheum was.

I feel like I'm in Mushniks now.

There's even dead plants behind us, like actively dying.

And he does...

Not directly, but he kind of kills Mr. Mushnik.

Which of the two, it's like, wow, you've given it to Mushnik.

Which we know Mushnik is definitely trying to manipulate Seymour into taking all of his money and taking the plant.

So if there's any casting directors out there, please bring me in before I turn into a Mr. Mushnick because I feel like that is coming soon.

So, yeah, I think I found the movie actually after seeing the stage show.

I was like, how have I not watched this sooner? Because it's just one of the best movie musicals ever made.
