Mr. Blue

So, well, I should start with how did, how did Don't Leave Me This Way come into your life?

Well, Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes had originally recorded Don't Leave Me This Way, and Suzanne de Passe, who is the person that, that signed me to the label, uh, Motown label, um, and who was now in char- She was in charge of the A&R department.

And so she heard that song by Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes and thought that it would be an interesting song recorded from a woman's point of view.

And so she asked me to go out and get the song, listen to it, and let her know if I liked it or not, you know, how I felt about it.

And so I did like it.

I love, you know, Philly International.

I love, I li- you know, good singing.

I love The O'Jays, and I love Teddy, like I said, the, the Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes.
