What God has done for his people requires love.

In Lewis's much-cited The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, Mr. Beaver was briefing the children on their upcoming meeting with Aslan, a fearsome lion who represents Jesus Christ.

And he said, Aslan is a lion, the lion, the great lion.

Ooh, said Susan, I thought he was a man.

Is he quite safe? I shall feel rather nervous about meeting a lion.

Safe, said Mr. Beaver.

Who said anything about safe? Of course he isn't safe, but he's good.

He's the king, I tell you.

So totally total lack of a theological understanding of the word fear.

One of my favorite quotes from the Narnia series is when the children ask Mr. Beaver if Aslan is a safe lion.

And Mr. Beaver says, of course he's not safe, but he's good.

Yeah,

it's brilliant.

Holiness and good can coexist in the same being.

As C.S. Lewis wrote in The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, When the children ask whether Aslan is safe, Mr. Beaver answers, Of course he isn't safe, but he's good.

He's the king, I tell you.

What he's beginning to learn is that humility is the best course of action when dealing with a holy God.

And when they hear of it, their first question, because it's a lion, is about safety.

And this conversation ensues with Mrs. Beaver and Mr. Beaver.

I know this sounds very childlike, but if you haven't watched it, do so.

Puss Junior had gone but a short distance when he heard a sad voice say, "Oh dear, I've lost my brother.

Nevertheless, he renewed his efforts after the doctor left for England, and strange to say, a report came later that a list containing the names of Catholics begging Mr. Beaver to attend them had appeared in one of the newspapers in London.
