Mox Diamond

My Ad Nauseam resolves, yada, yada, yada.

The line that I roughly wrote down was Mox Diamond for Rain of Filth, sack for two lands to make two black mana, Mana Vault for Diabolic Intent, Diabolic Intent for Lotus Petal, Lotus Petal used to cast Breach.

I had Swords and Yard, had Lion's Eye Diamond, was just able to win the game pretty easily on turn two, protected.

Not a ton happened.

Oh my God.

So my hand, I ended up keeping kind of a safe six, I think.

I kept Fish, Mox Diamond, Arcane Signet, Red Blast, Mindbreak Trap, land.

Only one land, but if I hit the second one, I get to go Mox Diamond into Arcane, into Fish, which feels pretty good.

But yeah, we'll, we'll keep going.

So in our artifacts we have, uh, Arcane Signet, Chrome Mox, Grim Monolith, Grinding Station, LED Petal, Mana Vault, Manabar, Mox Diamond, Mox Opal, Sol Ring, and a Wishclaw Talisman.

Again, the Grinding Station just the being there to kind of help with some early breach lines.

That's fun.

Oh, yeah.

We have Pyretic Ritual and Seething Song.

Mox Diamond, Mox Opal.

Oh, yeah, this definitely gets there.

I don- I don't need to buy this.

Uh, there's a lot of decks where I always put Mox Diamond in or...

And I'm just like, "I don't have enough lands in here to run a Mox Diamond." Like, I don't feel like I need Mox Diamond.

Like, it's good when it's good, but, like, there, there are hands where I have a land, I have two lands and a Mox Diamond, and I'm like, "Well, I don't wanna pitch a land." [laughs] You know? Like, uh, there's certain decks where I don't run Mox Amber, because I'm like, okay, well, you know, Hashatan is, costs two, so he's low.

Mox, Mox Amber might be good, but Mox Amber only taps for white, black.

It doesn't tap for the blue, and the blue is what I need the most.

It's nice to have zeros for KCI and so this is a good way to get another zero in the deck where I would prefer not to have to play like Urza's Bauble and Mishra's Bauble because I can play the one mana versions instead and they're better in the deck in general.

Lotus Petal, Mox Amber, Mox Diamond, Mox Opal, Mana Vault, Manifold Key, Sol Ring, Springleaf Drum, which I-- Springleaf Drum is cool in this deck since you don't need to cast it before you cast your commander.

You just cast your commander, cast it for free, and then you can immediately tap your commander for a mana.

Voltaic Key, Arcane Signet, Copy Artifact, Dramatic Reversal, Hidden Strings, Grim Monolith and Relic of Legends.

Go to five.

So I don't feel like we can go lower.

I also don't think we wanna keep Mox Diamond on five.

I think this is gonna be keep Island, Saga, Scrap Trawler, Sculpting Steel, Remand, and just play Saga on one, Commander on two, and then hope to find something reasonable to Sculpting Steel or find something to do with your Scrap Trawler.

Like, it has, like, Ancient Tomb.

And I saw that somebody else says Mox Diamond.

And I'm like, this is strange.

But Ancient Tomb didn't feel, like, super broken in our game.

Right, I feel like... because so much of the cube is focused on cycling, that it goes more into executing your game plan than necessarily developing your board.

And so, whereas in other cubes that have more aggressive strategies, I feel like it would be a power outlier, whereas here, it actually kind of feels balanced, if you're ever allowed to say that about Ancient 2.

Mox Diamond's crazy.

That's just straight up a free Mox.

It's very strange to me.

I, I cannot imagine the juice being worth the squeeze, because, like, um, so you're like, you're like, land, [laughs] you're like, Gemstone Mine, Mox Diamond, Werebear, uh, pass.

Like, Call the Herd.

Wow.

I watched, like...

Anytime this faces off against a blue deck, right, even if it has a tremendous amount of Sylvan Library shenanigans.

Oh, turn one Sylvan Library with my Mox Diamond, get you.

Like, it just, like, gets to a point where you, like, answer a couple things.

I did try out a Singleton library in Tampere at Euros last year.

And it was very good because if you get to play it early on and sometimes off a Mox Diamond, you can deploy it on turn one already.

You just snap, keep two extra cards the following turns.

And that just gives you so much advantage in the early game.

I haven't tried this.

It's an interesting, I'm doing the dangerous thing, which is, you know, you know, showcasing an idea on air that's freshly formed and haven't really had a chance to workshop it.

But if I had ability to workshop the man a little bit, i wonder if you could support if there if you go really mana heavy support multiple ports alongside wasteland maybe cutting factory and then therefore you have the combination of a bunch of wastelands a couple of ports and then you also have a set of vindicates creature count be a little thinner but then you might be able to do that arm again still have a lot of mana pressure to do what you need to do in certain matchups with that i don't know if that's really practical but you know good workshop of mana base that tries to support that Probably still require Mox Diamond.

I'm not sure if the creature count would be too thin, though.

As far as I'm concerned, those overloads-

Mox Diamond maybe?

... are just for the, uh, the Dreadnaughts.

Mox Diamond.

Um.

Okay.

Frantic Search is not a cheap card.

So then you just have to play Mox Diamond.

If you're actually scared of that, which I don't think you should, because Tanglewire and Winter Orb is two cards, and you're like, they might get set up faster, but them having Tanglewire and Winter Orb and the way to maintain it is actually quite a tricky parlay.

Having played a number of Tanglewire, Winter Orb, Goblin Welder in...

And your setup, one, your deck includes Frantic Search, which is incredible.

Two, if this is actually a concern of yours, then...

Mox Diamond is a good card in Replenish if you think that these things are going to be a problem.

Another thing that you could consider is playing a Replenish deck that also contains... all the copies of Sabo's Web that would allow you to tap Sabo's Web to their spells.
