Move to Amend

Um, so anyhow, um, David Cobb, you know, another good friend of mine who ran for president on the, on the, um, Green Party.

We would lock ourselves up as a group, Move to Amend as a group, and we would study the Constitution, study what kind of amendments we wanted to do to support more democracy, democracy, democracy, democracy.

Learned a lot from him.

He kinda shaped my My left-leaning side, if you will.

Well, Joe, let me, let me just say this, right? Because I've interviewed Robert Reich as well, and he kind of got upset at a statement that I made.

I, this was probably, I don't know, 10, 12 years ago, when I, I did a, a program with Move to Amend called Move to Amend Reports, and I interviewed him, and after he explained a few things, I'm like, "So why do we need capitalism for that?" And I don't remember exactly how I said it, but then he sternly said, "We're a capitalist country." And this is a progressive guy.

This is a good guy.

This is a guy that's out for the working class, et cetera.

He was the Green Party's presidential candidate in 2004.

He started a group called Move to Amend, among other things.

He was a lawyer until he quit his law practice around the turn of the century to focus full-time on the Green Party and other forms of activism.

But he had a legal kind of mind, and he started Move to Amend sometime after the Citizens United decision that declared corporations are people.

And Move to Amend is a group that's trying to get an amendment passed by the Congress to basically rescind that declaration of corporate personhood.

And which would hopefully do something about the super PAC situation, completely dominating everything here, you know, with this auction driven country.

But, you know, this government that's that's available to the highest bidder or whatever, a complete corruption.
