MOVE

Move.

The word itself is not an acronym.

Originally the Christian Movement for Life, it was quickly shortened to simply MOVE.

At first, the group was made up mostly of John Africa's friends and family, but within a few years, it had grown to more than 50 members, and every one of them adopted the surname Africa.

Moved Druin people felt lost in modern society, who felt beaten down by the systems meant to support them, and who were searching for a place where they belong.

The group rejected modern technology outright.

John Africa's mother had died of pneumonia, and he blamed it on the air conditioner at the hotel where she worked, saying it disrupted her body chemistry.

MOVE members were mostly young men and women, but children were part of the group as well, living under strict rules.

Yeah, move is so interesting.

I mean, so I live in Philadelphia.

I moved here about 10 years ago and I had heard of move But more or less the same way that I think a lot of people hear about MOVE, which is the anniversary of the bombing comes around.

You, you know, the state massacre children, they tried once again to murder black liberation as an idea and also MOVE is filled with its own abuse of children, its abuse of women, its internalized racism and queer phobia.
