I- my light went out in my bathroom, um, and so I cleaned up as much as I thought I needed to for the maintenance guy.

Came in after it had been fixed, 'cause he did it while I was at work, realized that I forgot to move my mouth guard.

And I tell you what, I haven't gotten a new mouth guard in years.

And that bitch is disgusting.

Well, these things are pretty small these days.

It's, I mean, it's the one I wear as a hard night guard.

So it just, it slips over the sort of the tops of your teeth and they can be pretty neat and tidy.

I always tell my patients when I give them one, this is not immediate love affair.

Because there's a text that just came in saying that not everybody ends up waking up with them still there.

What if you bite through the night guard? How bad is that? Somebody's chewing their way through a gum shield.

Well, that can happen.

It's mainly to protect your teeth.

I know in boxing, they always wear them in any professional match in fact I've been to watch quite a bit of boxing because my son is a professional boxer and if the mouth guard comes out during the fight they stop the fight until the mouth guard goes back in and yeah professional sometimes the newer boxers don't have proper fitting mouth guards and they don't stay in and those guys often get knocked out even with a mouth guard in place so At least their teeth survive.

Okay.

And let's say my child has braces.

Can they still wear a mouth guard for rugby or hockey?

Yes, there's special orthodontic mouth guards that can work around the braces.

And yeah, it's very important because the brackets can tear up your lips.
