Mouse Hunt

But for the most part, most of the time, i- if an opportunity came about for one of these to get made, I, I would let it happen.

Like Mousehunt, for example.

I wrote Mousehunt.

I'd, I would've been happy to direct it if the opportunity came about.

But Mousehunt actually sold in a bidding war.

Um, and speaking of Steven Spielberg, he bought it for DreamWorks.

It was the first big bidding war for DreamWorks.

Yeah.

Oh, yeah.

Mousehunt's fun.

And that's not something I should say.

Yeah.

[laughs] 'Cause almost everything I can think of with him, he plays this same character.

Even fucking Mousetrap or Mousehunt, whatever the fuck that movie was called.

But, um-

Oh, yeah.

But-

But when you're making like, you know, Mousehunt or whatever the movie is-

[laughs] Yeah, exactly

... or, you know, Matilda-

I had done, I thought, [laughs] I thought I had done a wide variety of things in the theater.

Including one of my favorites, Mousehunt.

Oh, the, well, sure.

There's, it's a special place in my heart for Mousehunt.

That's...

Really?

At least the main feature itself.

We're watching Mouse Hunt.

And this used to be one of my favorite movies.

And I haven't seen it in... at least probably 25 years or so.

We were hoping for an older cat, one with experience.

That's a switch most people like, the cute little ones.

Experience with what? Mouse hunting.

All cats are good mouses.

Mm

... who talked like that, and he had the big teeth through his face, and I think he was in that movie Mouse Trap, and he was the dad who dies, and he's really scary.

You're not kidding me.

I need to find it.

H-A-

Oh, that's not who I wanted to look up.

I wanted to look up Mouse Trap.

And so we actually lost him in July, only a few months ago.
