Mountains and Clouds

Installed in the Hart Atrium is a gigantic sculpture mobile designed by Alexander Calder.

It was put in in the 1980s and called Mountains and Clouds.

Huge sheets of black jagged steel rise from the atrium floor representing mountains, but dangling from above in the cavernous vestibule are sheets of metal called clouds.

A motor used to rotate the clouds, spinning them around, but that stopped working years ago.
