And his mate had to sort of wrap him in a bivy bag and go down and get mountain rescue to come back and recover.

and help him and they basically found him out of his bivvy bag and he was 20 degrees obviously your body temperature is 37 he was well under the temperature they thought he was dead but as you'll hear Obviously, you're not dead officially until you're warm and dead in the mountains with hypothermia.

So you'll hear the story about how he got taken to hospital, everything that happened there in his recovery, and then his subsequent going back to do the Bob Graham.

But I went in the survival bivvy.

He gave me a hug, said he loves me.

Ran down to the Cookgate Farm and rung 999, Mountain Rescue.

Mountain Rescue got to me within an hour and 15.

The mountain rescue team that covers that mountain, it's had a bit of an interesting time of things this summer, particularly in August.

It's one of these things where at a minute everyone goes and does it.

It's like, you know, the other Britain's top 50 walks and they put Hell Valley and Westriding Edge and next thing there's people just dropping off and Mountain Rescue are out all the time because everyone's like, it's a walk.

It's not really.

Yeah, I've done Striding Edge once.

But

some of these races, you could genuinely get, like, you might have to get Mountain Rescue out and, like, Search and Rescue to be found.

Like, you're so far away, aren't you? Yeah, yeah.

And in a Facebook post, the Sheriff's Department said the Shasta County Search and Rescue was activated and numerous resources were deployed to the area to aid in the search for Ms. Palmer.

These resources included dirt riders, mounted posse, ground team, Jeepers and Mountain Rescue.

The Shasta County Sheriff's Office will continue to search for Ms. Palmer throughout the night.

For four days, the Shasta County and the teams mentioned above searched for Lynn, but there was just no sign of her.

Why doesn't the helicopter simply fly up there and pick him up?

Well, because having a helicopter available and having a helicopter that can safely hover next to a patient at roughly 13,000 feet inside this steep, confined terrain and perform a hoist are very different things.

We don't have any volunteers now.

Our volunteers are things like Mountain Rescue and stuff like that.

So we have a lot of other agencies that will help with things like Mountain Rescue.

We don't have anyone that's purely voluntary from a fire and rescue perspective.

Right.

So what sort of situations, tests, would you find yourself getting called

into? So where Mountain Rescue frequently get called out for lost and broken tourists, that's their stock in trade.

We tend to have the other half of the client for rescue services, which are people who... uh might be depressed or suicidal and go missing uh people with dementia with mental health issues people who as tom says are are missing but don't necessarily want to be found or know that they're lost so when somebody goes missing the family will call the police the police will make an assessment as to how vulnerable that person is and what the risk is to life and if they if it reaches a level they will call us in we will put a lot of boots on the ground very quickly to look for them.

We also have an arrangement with Warwickshire Fire and Rescue where we'll go out and help with water rescue and flood as well.

The American Alpine Club said that the search expanded on Friday, July 2, with more than 40 personnel involved.

Ground searchers included National Park Service climbing rangers, climbing guides from Rainier Mountaineering, Alpine Ascent International, international mountain guides, volunteers from Mountain Rescue, and helicopters, the American Alpine Club said.

Later, on July 2, one team of ground searchers located Eric's backpack at 13,600 feet and then a small snow cave about 200 vertical feet above it, according to the American Alpine Club.

Another search team climbed the Gibraltar Ledges Route along with the Upper Nisqually and Ingraham Glaciers.
