Okay.

So now, you lived in Manhattan just for a short period of time.

We promised never to forget.

What did I do to commemorate their lives and names? I recall working at Beth Israel Medical Center.

I became numb watching people looking motionless, walking on First Avenue in New York, looking like zombies with aches and their clothes grayed, with faces continuously motionless and short.

They forgot their names.

Dr. Theise's involvement in the discovery was a combination of new technology, decades of expertise, and office space.

As a liver pathologist, I was actually at the hospital I was working at then, Beth Israel Medical Center in New York.

I was in the gastrointestinal medicine division.

And since I was located there when two guys in the department, the director, David Carlock, and one of his senior fellows, uh, Petros Benias, they had gotten a newfangled endoscope.

He attended med school at Midwestern University, Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine, and went on to Johns Hopkins University, where he completed his residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation and was selected as chief resident.

Subsequently, he performed his fellowship training in interventional pain management at Beth Israel Medical Center in Manhattan, where he served as Chief Fellow.
