Mount Morgan

People putting in the Overland Telegraph were digging post holes, and that's when the Tennant Creek goldfield was found.

I go into the Mount Morgan goldfield.

Mount Morgan was discovered by the Morgan brothers in 1882.

And a solicitor in Rockhampton was a very big shareholder and he sold his shares and started an oil company called the Imperial Persian Oil Company.

He did a joint venture with Burma Oil, a British company, and just when the British Navy were changing from coal to oil, they found oil in Iran.

He renamed it British Petroleum.

So if you buy BP, fill up your vehicle with BP, you won't be able to fill your electric vehicle there, and don't worry about it, you can't drive too far with them anyway.

But if you fill up with BP, that company actually started in Mount Morgan.

[laughs]

And so [chuckles] I go into the great heists, but I go into the, how you can pinch it out of a, a processing plant, and Mount Morgan gets a good mention.

They had a gr- a, a series of gold thefts, and we go into that.

We go into some of the hold-ups that occurred in Queensland.
