I dug up the actual two thousand one issue of that newsletter, and Fr- Green's first description calls the plant Hoya clemensi, one person's name, not two.

His own note about it in that same issue reads, "This handsome-leafed Hoya is named after J. and M. S. Clemens, who spent much time botanizing on Mount Kinabalu and other places in Sabah, Malaysia." He meant to honor both of them.

The Latin just didn't back him up.

Fortunately, somebody caught it.

In two thousand seventeen, a botanist named Michaela Rhoda took on the job of fixing it.

He didn't just grab whatever was handy.

He went back through the records and picked an actual specimen collected by Joseph and Mary themselves up on Mount Kinabalu on September eight, nineteen thirty-one.

That's seventy years before the plant even carried this name, and eighty-six years before anybody would need that specimen to patch up a broken record.

The escalation is raising fresh concerns over global oil supplies, with oil prices surging more than 4% before settling about 1% higher on Monday.

And finally, over in East Malaysia, Sabah Parks is seeking the maximum fine and possibly a civil suit against a Croatian accused of illegally climbing Mount Kinabalu earlier this month.

The 46-year-old man allegedly used an unauthorised route without a permit or guide before falling down a slope.

His rescue required teams to navigate a slippery, uncharted path to reach him.

I mean, I mean, like, a lot of people have, uh, maybe even gotten a chance to climb Mount Kinabalu, you know?

Yeah.

That's not a short, uh, low mountain.

But I was lucky in that various schoolmasters took an interest and encouraged me.

When I got to Cambridge, I was very keen to go back to Borneo to investigate more closely the butterflies and moths of Mount Kinabalu.

so in 1965, led a student expedition, three-man expedition, to Mount Kinabalu to sample moths at different altitudes on the mountain.

One of my colleagues, the late Jeremy Holloway, took detailed records of which species occurred at which altitudes, and that formed the basis for two subsequent expeditions by Taiwanese to see and to match the effect of climate change on the altitudinal distribution of these species of moths.

The first one was in 2007 and the second one was actually last year.

And this is what you see right outside your cabin.

This is Mount Kinabalu.

It is the tallest mountain in the island of Borneo.

I lived there for two years.

She could even climb mountains, literally.

I've done Mount Kinabalu with Wira Transplant Malaysia.

I prepare myself for the Mount Kinabalu climb for the expedition.

So my preparation was in August last year, I started stair climbing.

Uh, every Saturday I do stair climbing.

So go up, come down is one time, so I started doing 10 times.

So I spent about two hours there doing all this thing.

So all this preparation has helped me a lot during my Mount Kinabalu climb.
