So before we get into the people involved in this case, I think it's very important to talk about where this was set and the time period.

So Fall River sits in the southeastern corner of Massachusetts, where the Taunton River spills into Mount Hope Bay.

And cutting through the middle of the city is the Kwikishon River, less than two miles long, which drops sharply over a series of falls before it reaches the water, and those falls gave the city its name, and in the early 1800s, they gave it its fortune, powering the first textile mills built along the riverbanks.

Now, when steam engines came along, the mills spread out along the waterfront, where ships could deliver coal straight to their doors, and the city never looked back.
