The garbage company Clean Away has now issued a statement after the death of a man who was hit by a garbage truck in the early hours of this morning in Mount Druitt.

And this is quite a confusing situation.

Now, there is a critical investigation underway in relation to a 21-year-old man who died after he was hit by a garbage truck outside a restaurant in Sydney's west this morning.

Emergency services were called to the restaurant on Luxford Road in Mount Druitt about 2.20am after reports a pedestrian had been hit by a truck.

Police officers and paramedics attempted to treat the man.

However, he died at the scene.

He's yet to be identified.

The driver, a 31-year-old man, was uninjured and taken to hospital for mandatory testing.

Initial inquiries revealed the pedestrian had attended the rear of Mount Druitt Police Station twice during the evening and interacted with officers.

A crime scene has been established and police have launched a critical incident investigation into the circumstances surrounding the man's death.

And it is.

A 21-year-old has died out at Mount Druitt.

Now, it's a confusing situation.

Happened at 20 past two this morning.

Now, the ambos attempted to treat the man at the scene that he died there, not formally identified, but believed to be 21, driver of the van, as always happens, 31 not injured and taken to hospital for mandatory testing.

Now, the thing is, the police have determined that the pedestrian had attended the rear of Mount Druitt police station a couple of times during the night and interacted with police so you obviously don't know what that's about but and when one of these happens it is a critical incident so that means very serious that investigation will be underway and subject to that the professional standards command will get involved as well and oversight by the law enforcement conduct pardon me conduct commission as well so Very sad, believed to be 21, died at the scene, hit by a garbage truck outside a restaurant in the early hours at Mount Druitt.

A man has been hit and killed by a garbage truck in Sydney's west.

Believed to be 21 years old, he was struck by the vehicle outside a Mount Druitt restaurant just after two o'clock this morning and died at the scene.

The 31-year-old driver has been taken for mandatory testing.
