Mount Angel Abbey

Well, you may have heard of the rule of St. Benedict, but our guest this evening will help us apply it to our everyday lives, even if you're not living in a monastery.

Manolito Haldon Jr. is an oblate of Mount Angel Abbey and earned his Doctor of Ministry from Mount Angel Seminary.

He's also the director of the Lasallian Student Life Office at Christian Brothers High School in Sacramento, California, where he helps teens prepare for retreats and liturgies throughout the year.

The last story I'll share with you is not a story about me, but it's a story I learned about a Christian monastery in this place called Mount Angel Abbey in America.

The way the story goes is that these monks, they abide by a very specific rule of principles that govern their everyday lives.

If they're fasting, they're very strict about their fasting.
