Andy HydeGUEST
2:55
So that's part of what I do, which I guess would also come under development.
Andy HydeGUEST
3:03
But The third thing, and it's something that's particularly topical for this year's AGM, is I'm responsible for getting the sport of RC racing actually recognised as a sport, and there's a long and slightly complex history to that but as things stand RC car racing, model car racing is not actually recognised as a sport in and of its own right and that presents some issues for us but also I suppose holds us back from a few opportunities so I've been working on that with Motorsport UK and my other BRCA colleagues for the last three or four years, actually, and leading an effort with Mark Rumble from EFRA to kind of do something about that and get RC Racing's recognition status more clearly defined.
Andy HydeGUEST
4:17
And that's one of the big topics that I'll be discussing at this year's AGM.
PhilHOST
4:24
Fantastic.
JohnHOST
3:18
So I've redone it already in the 2027 one's already in.
JohnHOST
3:21
So, About a month, maybe two months to a month ago, it starts getting really, really, really busy at Motorsport UK with everyone renewing and all that kind of stuff.
JohnHOST
3:29
It can take a while to come through.
JohnHOST
3:31
But if you have your Marshalls number, I mean, mine starts... 254 because i was way back the early the early 20s 2012 i think it was now you think you're on four zero something once you've got that number you can then contact your local circuit and they will put you in touch with probably the chief marshal or whoever it is that deals with the marshal at that circuit and they can get you in for a taste of day to see if it is for you i hope that answers that one
AdamGUEST
3:59
it is and i'm still waiting for me a little car to come which you probably see this will be next year now it's
JohnHOST
4:05
Are you still waiting? What I would maybe do is email Motorsport UK and just let them know, say, listen, I have done, I have registered, I have done this, but I haven't received it yet.
JohnHOST
4:15
It might be lost in the interwebs somewhere.
AdamGUEST
4:19
Royal Mail's lost it.
Andrew FrankelHOST
3:10
[applause] Uh, and before we do anything else, something we omitted to do on a previous podcast.
Andrew FrankelHOST
3:14
Can we just say thank you very much to everybody at Motorsport UK for letting us, again, use their fantastic facilities here.
Andrew FrankelHOST
3:21
We are nevertheless very, very glad and very happy to be here.
Jez MedingerHOST
3:23
We certainly are.
Alex PorterGUEST
54:34
Be as open as you can.
Jez MedingerHOST
54:36

Andrew FrankelHOST
54:52
We're incredibly grateful to them.
Charlie MartinGUEST
15:18
Um, but we've seen some amazing progress.
Charlie MartinGUEST
15:21
You know, Motorsport UK, the governing body for, for motorsport in England, um, actually became part of the Rainbow Laces campaign a few years ago, and we're starting to see more and more visibility.
Charlie MartinGUEST
15:32
And you can see the impact that that's created in the last sort of three, four years in terms of, you know, grassroots organizations, groups, uh, things like Racing Pride.
Charlie MartinGUEST
15:46
You know, there's been such a proliferation of queer visibility in motorsport, which just, just didn't exist before, that it does have this cumulative effect, I think.
AdamGUEST
6:15
Right.
JohnHOST
6:15
So, so in the UK, we're run by Motorsport UK, so we have to run to Motorsport UK rules.
JohnHOST
6:21
So we had, um, I'm not gonna say any names, but there is, I would say, quite a famous marshal on TikTok who constantly records doing stuff, but they mar- the marshal is looking at their job and doing their job properly.
JohnHOST
6:38
It's just the camera's set up at the side recording them.
JohnHOST
6:42
Did the, did the same at Silverstone and got a rollicking for it.
AdamGUEST
6:45
Wow.
JohnHOST
6:46
Because it's a Motorsport UK thing.
JohnHOST
6:47
So you, when you go to, uh, well, Zandvoort, um, I know it's finished now, but Zandvoort, Monza, all that type of stuff, it's the local motorsport body that supplies the marshals.
Alex PorterGUEST
58:44
Be as open as you can.
Jez MedingerHOST
58:46
