The court heard that McGarvey was at the wheel of a white Iveco HGV towing a curtain-sided trailer when he misjudged his vehicle's height.

McGarvey of Margaret Drive, Motherwell, admitted failing to take into account the overall height of his vehicle, resulting in a collision with the bridge.

Defending McGarvey, his solicitor, Mr. Billy Rennie, explained, "He was moving very slowly.
