Moss Keane

Some people might say, is it unfair, though? Because if you go back, I mean, we have to go back some decades, I suppose, for a similar situation to this.

But the rugby team, those rugby players who refused to tour South Africa, the Tony Ward, Moss Keane, Donald Spring.

They took a stand as players, even though they were, you know, they were playing a team sport, but they took a moral stand and said they would not go to South Africa.

I think Tony Ward in particular had been there before and had seen what was happening there and couldn't in good conscience go back.

But that does remind me of a great story about people with a good game face.

And it's an Irish rugby international by the name of Moss Keane.

Now, Moss Keane played for Munster when they beat the All Blacks in 1978.

Famous game.

He came out here with the Lions.

And a friend of mine who was a broadcaster, a commentator for BBC Northern Ireland actually went down to do a piece, a little mini documentary on Moss Keane.

Now, he was a hard man.

He had a set of buckled teeth and quite a red sort of a face.
