It ended a two-years' quest, and I left him there with an empty stare and a knife stuck in his chest.

You see those marks upon my arm? You wonder what they mean? Those marks were left by the fingers deft of my trained nurse, Miss Morphine.

You say that habit's worse than rum.

It's possible, too, you are right, but at least it drives away the things that come and stare at night.

He doesn't seem to be great at internalizing his mental state through normal means however, perhaps the one thing he's not able to do, so instead he looks to a concoction of the most drugs which would definitely kill the greatest of psychonauts.

What he takes is described as, quote, "Into his largest syringe he decanted the following: Novocain, Morphine, Curare" I d- I don't know what that is, "Vlut, a rare Central Asian poison which included temporary blindness, Olfactorcaine, a top-secret smell deadener used by skunk farmers, Tympanaline, a drug which temporary deadened the auditory nerves, used primarily by filibustering senators, a large dose of Benzedrine, lysergic acid, psilocybin, mescaline, peyote extract, seven other highly experimental and most illegal hallucinogens, eye of newt, and toe of dog." And it's a resounding success.

The drugs allow him to turn his psyche inward inside of his own body.

He tracks down the cancer cells who manifest themselves like Hells Angels bikers, real masculine tough guys that he kills one by one in a series of elaborate battles before slaying the final boss, which is just an absolutely fantastic sequence of-

Morphine has been injected, and quiet is essential.
