Minaya lives in Morningside Gardens, a cooperative housing complex in New York City.

It is considered a naturally occurring retirement community, or NORC, meaning that although the buildings were not initially designed to house seniors, a large portion of the residents are older adults.

In nineteen sixty-six, the shareholders of Morningside Gardens voted to create Morningside Retirement Health Services.

Ron Bruno is the current executive director.

Our mission statement from nineteen sixty-six was twofold, and the primary thing is to enable older adults to remain living at home.

A lot of them are sitting because I have really bad balance issues.

As I've gone through those transitions, then I've been able to benefit from that programming.
