ChrisHOST
[inhales] Mm, uh, maybe In Flames, Reroute to Remain.
Rishi BahlGUEST
Incubus, Morning View.
NickHOST
Ooh, okay.
ChrisHOST
Oh, I love that.
TylerHOST
We're doing, we're doing Incubus today.
TylerHOST
And the reason we're, why we're doing Incubus is because friend of the pod, Isaac, he's suggested bands over the years, and he's, he's a very good friend of the pod and, um, he wanted us to do Incubus and Morning View.
TylerHOST
Now, we, we like Incubus a lot.
TylerHOST
The last time we did them was, like, maybe three years ago when we did Science.
TylerHOST
Um, we did Morning View one time in a very, very lost episode maybe, like, eight years ago, so it's...
TylerHOST
Can't listen to it.
TylerHOST
So we decided to dive into this one again, get into the music, lyrics, and all that kind of shit.
TylerHOST
And, um, and yeah.
TylerHOST
And that's all I have for the boring intro.
TylerHOST
And this week we are doing the band Incubus because friend of the pod, Isaac, he did reach out to us a couple weeks ago, uh, just asking, you know, "Could you, could you guys do Morning View by Incubus? I know you guys did Science before," which we did, like three, four years ago, we did.
TylerHOST
Um, we decided to go for it again, and that's what, what we're doing.
TylerHOST
So we're gonna rank their, um, all of their albums plus their two EPs, the Trestfall EPs, but we're gonna kinda combine that as one.

JeffHOST
Like, honestly, I, I don't think they make bad, bad songs.
TylerHOST
Yeah, outside of "Love Hurts," I, I really don't have any stinkers, 'cause that is truly a bad song.
TylerHOST
Um, my number three, "Morning View," the album of the week.
TylerHOST
So we're not gonna get more into this right now.
Danny McCrumHOST
Yeah
Logan WedgwoodGUEST
... yeah, and then Morning View came out, and that's just a fantastic record-
Danny McCrumHOST
Yeah
Logan WedgwoodGUEST
... from start to finish.
MooshHOST
No, man.
MooshHOST
Rick Rubin came in for Morning View and really helped out with that whole record.
MooshHOST
Dude, he's so good at listening to music.
MooshHOST
He's just like me.
Joel MartinHOST
I'm looking at the Incubus Science album that you have on the wall.
Joel MartinHOST
With the podcast, I do a lot of discussions online about albums, and man, I ended up talking so much about the Holy Trinity for Incubus, where you have Science, then Make Yourself, then Morning View.
Joel MartinHOST
And I, I think those are three, like, incredible albums in a row.
Dan DavidsonGUEST
Oh, unbelievable.
Dan DavidsonGUEST
And it's, it's like interesting how timestamped it is on their progression as a band, right? You can just, you could feel the, the energy of the first record of S- well, not even the first record, but of Science, and, uh, but still they had such personality with their roots in funk and jazz and all that kinda stuff.
Dan DavidsonGUEST
And then in Make Yourself, it was such, uh, like a nod to, like, giant stadium rock, but doing it their way.
Dan DavidsonGUEST
And it felt like in Morning View, it was like, "Hey, let's get back to just a bunch of guys in a room, and let's mis- make some songs that we love." And it was interesting, actually, that Morning View record from Incubus, that was...
Dan DavidsonGUEST
The night that we formed Tupelo Honey, we were watching the Morning View documentary of them making that record in Beverly Hills or whatever it was, in Malibu.
RyanHOST
Mm-hmm.
MikeHOST
Pre-Morning View.
EricHOST
Mm-hmm.
RyanHOST
Right.
