Morehead

It's one of the coolest things ever.

Now, even some urban Kentucky areas are seeing black bears now, such as Morehead, Kentucky.

Um, and that, you know, that's over, uh, towards the mountains.

Versailles, Kentucky, that's right in the middle of Kentucky.

I was at the game in 2017 where they stormed the field against Morehead when they, when will Healy and company ended the 70 game losing streak or whatever it was for Austin P it was against Morehead.

Now, I, I don't think that they're dead, dead, but they're clearly not what they were a few years ago, and, like, could they get back there? Absolutely.

I don't think that this is an impossible conference to go from the mid-pack to the upper pack end again.

But I, I also think it never should have gotten...

I, I wouldn't say that they've been, like, awful by any stretch, but to me, given Morehead's history, they should never be worse than, like, third best in the conference every single season.

Yeah.

They have more than enough fan investment, more than enough people who care, and perhaps, you know, Jonathan Maddox just isn't the guy.

But I actually started there and have lived there my whole musical career.

I did my undergrad at Morehead State University, my master's at the University of Central Arkansas, where we met.

I'm not sure if you were there both years that I was there or if you graduated at the end of my first year.

But I studied with Gail in high school for private stuff and then auditioned a couple places for undergrad, but really fell in love with Morehead when I auditioned there.

So I studied with her and then Gail was just kind of like a natural flow from there.

There was also a Morehead state got even with Kentucky Christian, although they had an awesome kick return for touchdown in that game.

I don't need to ask you about that one, but I mean the, yeah, I mean the Salukis got that win that one, I guess might have been, you know, down the road, they could be a playoff team.

Um, and then when it came time to go to, to college, you know, I was a little bit of a nerd, so I didn't know what I wanted to do.

Uh, but I found out, um, at the time, you know, Morehead State, uh, you know, they had a really good scholarship with, you know, ACT score and all this stuff.

So I just didn't know what I wanted to do, and I was looking through their course catalog and I was like, "Wait a second, you can go to school for music? That's cool." Like, you can go for guitar, not like French horn or something? I didn't realize that was a, an option.

Auditioned for the jazz guitar program, of all things, at Morehead State, ended up going there for undergrad, um, which I adore.

I still am very happy I made that decision to this day, you know.

Um, Morehead was a great place.

It was a nice stepping stone from Pikeville.
