Hey, we love to talk to indie filmmakers.

We have an award-winning filmmaker, Christopher Moonlight.

He's here to talk to us about AI and its impact on indie film.

And I think the practice of that had a lot to do with my own writing.

And then I have to say, there's a film that changed my life and it's a film called Moonlight directed by Barry Jenkins.

It's an adaptation of a play by Terrell Alvin McCraney.

It's the first time I saw a very serious drama that I just had to see it over and over again in theaters.

There was a point at which, you know, if I was giving readings wherever I was, I would go see Moonlight in the theater of the city where I was and anybody I knew would have to come with me.

I mean, I was literally paying, buying tickets for other people to see Moonlight sort of as an excuse for me to see it again, but also as a way of spreading the word about it.

I thought it was such a brilliant film I have this I just want to say, you know, the first time I saw Moonlight, I missed most of it because I was crying from the opening from the opening scenes to the end.

And I kept thinking, oh, I must just be the film can't be that good.

Yeah, I mean, like, you know, uh, True Detective, uh, you know, they, uh...

I think Nic threw my name, Nic Pizzolatto threw my name in the mix 'cause they hadn't, you know, they had cast Mahershala Ali, who had just won the, the Oscar for Moonlight, and he was playing the lead, and they needed his partner.

And, um, it had been a while since season one and season two, right, which were kinda tight together-

Mm-hmm

So my movie that I'm picking for Best Picture, I'm gonna go with another, [laughs] another interesting, um, announcement, Best Picture, um, which is gonna be Moonlight.

Hmm.

Oh.

Anyways, this movie, um-

Well, it won Best Feature, so there's that.

It won Best Feature, Best Director, Best Screenplay.

She is 50 years old today.

Played Eve Moneypenny in Skyfall and received an Academy nomination for Moonlight.
