Monty Criswell

yeah

um well let's talk about the new single too yeah uh closer every day that one uh first song i wrote with monty criswell and derrick george uh that we're at that beginning of last year and uh super great guys and super talented um But yeah, that's one of them songs.

I think it was Monty's idea, and I latched onto it quick because that's just something anybody can relate to, trying to get better at being who you are and who you're supposed to be, the best version of yourself every day.

So that's kind of what that's about.

You know, when I sit back down and I think about all the songs that he's written, songs that I would have cut, you know, at 18 years old.

And I think of songs like Way Out Here, you know, the opening line of that song is maybe one of the best opening lines of any song R.F. ever written you know our houses are protected by the good lord and a gun you might meet them both if you show up here not welcome son you're just like oh my goodness that's incredible and so i just that is um a relationship that that always blows my mind and and a lot of people on this album that i've had the chance to collaborate with it's always if you would have told 18, 19 year old me when I moved to town that I would have had this kind of album with these amazing collaborators like Ben Hayslip, Red Akins, people that I grew up listening to songwriter wise, Monty Criswell, who's one of my favorite songwriters, Tim Nichols, you know, who wrote Heads Carolina, Tails California, Live Like You Were Dying.

The songwriters that we have in this list are just really incredible.

Another one really sticks out to me because you guys are both so tenacious when it comes to this career path.
