Monterey Motorsports Reunion

But it wasn't the only Audi that was there.

I was also at the Rolex Motorsport reunion.

Got to see some really cool Audis out on the track.

The R8 LMS cars were there.

And then I have one that was... literally ran back in the 60s and 70s in Trans Am and in the different CB Sedan series.

Back then, that car would be invited to like the Rolex this week.

My friend Ara and Tim Probert, they'll be racing there in the vintage race at the Rolex.

I'll be out there watching them.

Hopefully we'll get the car in there next year.

We got her into a hospital bed, hospital room at, I don't know, maybe 7 or 8 a.m. Tuesday.

And so luckily that had a little couch-ish type thing, but so was there with her as much as I could be on Tuesday, coming home to feed the cats and Got the Monterey Motorsports reunion coming up, which is a big deal.

I have more client activation this year.

I think five clients in total than any other year.

thing or two very quickly here, non-newsy thing, just circling back to Monterey.

Boy, just, I've been doing this like for most of my life, which might lead to a, yeah, boy, I've been doing it for so long, kind of like there's nothing new and, you know, hard to get motivated or truly inspired like I did back when I was a kid when everything was brand new.

And One of the reasons that I go to the Monterey Motorsports Reunion each year is because it has that rejuvenating effect.

Getting to see one of my heroes, Jeff Brabham, four-time consecutive IMSA GTP champ, reunited with one of his championship-winning Nissan GTP cars, run by my old teammate, friend Tyler Tatavik, awesome.

Mm.

Toyota kindly invited us to the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion at Laguna Seca, one of our favorite places, great track that we rent for Hooked on Driving.

But they had a garage there.

They had a handful of journalists, and they brought the new GR GT and GT3.

That's perfect.

On social media, we just showed the new M3 EV.

It was at the Monterey Motorsports Reunion.

Mm-hmm.

Mm-hmm.

I kind of remember when Monterey Historics and Pebble Beach had not yet been co-opted [laughs] by all the luxury brands.

And, you know, it was a, I wouldn't exactly say grassroots, but, [laughs] but it was, you know, uh-

There's the racing cars version of this.

You can go to the Monterey Motorsports Reunion and go see old vintage cars getting used the way they were intended to.

Some fantastic stuff.

We did a really good deep dive on that last year.

Like, the part of me that's anti-authoritarian and doesn't wanna see people with billions of dollars running around, like, I hate that stuff.

I feel like that's the worst exaggeration of what car culture should be.

Really, it's the Monterey Motorsports Reunion that represents to me what I feel like this should all be.

It's people using cars for what they were designed to use for.
