Monterey Formation

By some estimates, California has the second-largest oil reserves in the world.

The Monterey Shale, you add it all up.

Now, some of it is not immediately economically viable, but there's a lot of it here.

We used to produce most of what we used here in state, most of that in Kern County at the southern end of the Central Valley.

Remember, we have the fourth largest reserves of oil in the United States, fourth or fifth.

Monterey Shale formation, we have it offshore, and we don't use it, most of it.

We import oil from Saudi Arabia, and we refine it, but we're not gonna be able to refine much 'cause we're kicking out our two, two of our refiners.

And then we import gasoline, I think from the Caribbean and from Japan now.
