13th.The Montana Department of Justice has uncovered the largest Medicaid fraud scheme in the history of its specialized control unit.

Attorney General Austin Knudsen announced that a judge ordered Kevin Patrick Maxwell, the former owner of Providence Mental Health Services in Bozeman, to pay the state nearly two point four million dollars.

An investigation revealed that between January of twenty twenty-two and November of twenty twenty-four, the clinic used interns and unlicensed staff to provide mental health sessions and then billed Medicaid for the services anyway.
