Monsieur Verdoux

Claude Chabrol directed Landru in 1962, and more recently, in 2005, Patrick Timsett's character was modeled on the famous criminal in the Pierre Bouton film The Landru Case.

All these films serve to perpetuate the infamous Landru Affair.

At the start of October 1917, The mayor of Gombe, a small town an hour outside of Paris, on the edge of the Rambouillet forest, receives a letter from Madame Pella in Paris.

She asks if it's possible to start a search for her sister, Mrs. Colombe, who was to marry a certain Mr. Fremier, living in Gombe, as she has not heard from her sister in some time.
