Monsanto House of the Future

And, of course, if you're a big company like Westinghouse was with electricity, this is Monsanto.

And the Monsanto House of the Future from 1957 that was at Disneyland.

Right.

Have you guys ever seen this thing before? No.

One of the things I think they nailed with it in terms of got it right, they had a push-button video doorbell.

all hardwired old school cameras right tv cameras back in the 50s obviously but you could push the button and see who's at the door just like they're doing now when with a ring doorbell but this was 1957 monsanto house of the future

that is interesting that using plastic as a building material because it does lock you in you know

you know, just so much fun.

But, you know, if you go back even further, you know, you have things like, you know, the Monsanto house of the future and the Monsanto, uh, adventures through inner space that Claude coats art directed.

And, uh, yeah, a funny story is my wife's, uh, grandfather was a, uh, he was a, a vice president at Monsanto, um, going way back.

And, uh, Uh, he would tell me stories about flying to LAX, getting picked up in a helicopter and flying to, uh, the Disneyland airport, which I guess was a helipad over by the Disneyland hotel.

They didn't care about Figment.

We loved the edutainment at the end of it, right? We loved drawing the colors, and we, you know, House of the Future was still there.

Mm-hmm.

My kids loved that stuff, and they, th- they're actually, it's interesting to see that they have some nostalgia for it even though we caught it really at the tail end of it.

We wanna go, like, old school.

We need the Monsanto Home of the Future.

And, uh, there's a attraction that first came to mind when I was doing research, and that was the House of the Future.

What, what an icon, right?

I, I think it may even be posted on, on YouTube or whatever, is that Monsanto put together a, uh, a, a 12-minute tour of the House of the Future.

Mm-hmm.

I think a lot of people jumped up during those announcements and said, no way, because you just didn't see that coming.

I would love to see House of the Future come back.

This is pretty good.

I'm getting through all this.

But then there was Monsanto House of the Future at Tomorrowland from 1957 to 1967.

Wow.
