According to news reports, the Tucker County Office of Emergency Management was alerted to OJ's disappearance at around 9 p.m. on October 3rd, 2021.

The emergency services were informed that OJ had disappeared while in the Furnau Experimental Forest area in the Monongahela National Forest.

The search and rescue effort was conducted and during that search, they found OJ's car near the Turkey Run Trail, but no other information has been released thus far.

Scent dogs, search and rescue experts, and the Parsons Volunteer Fire Department have all joined in.

Well, there's actually a Monongahela National Forest in Pennsylvania.

Okay.

Okay.

I mean, I was taillight deep in the frontier going through there.

but the um the allegheny shenandoah overland trail as far as difficulty this is actually like a two truthfully you're not getting four low action it's very likely that you may not actually put it into four low unless you're in a situation where the gravel's real loose you're going uphill and you just don't want to spin the road up however what you make up for the scenery it is be absolutely beautiful the camping is awesome you know you are in the heart of awesome dispersed camping and if you want to get away this is the place to do it you have the Monongahela National Forest George Washington National Forest for me the Monongahela is the Alpha and the Omega of dispersed camping I don't think it gets any better than that in our region.

It is great.

This is a spot where, I mean, you could take a whole week and have an awesome time.

There's nothing better than that.

Anything.

Any of these that run through the Monongahela National Forest, it just doesn't

get better.

Both continue to insist that on that September day in the heart of the Appalachian Timber, they were followed, stalked, and finally confronted by a Sasquatch.

On the night of August eighteenth, two thousand fourteen, an unsettling incident was reported by two men camping deep in the Monongahela National Forest near the Spruce Knob Recreation Area.

The witnesses, identified here as John H., age thirty-four, and Robert M., age thirty-six, were experienced outdoorsmen from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Both had extensive camping and backpacking experience, having made several trips into the Allegheny Mountains and the Appalachian backcountry over the previous decade.

The men spoke about the incident only to close friends and family, fearing ridicule.

The event circulated informally in local outdoor circles, with some dismissing it as a hoax or misinterpretation.

Others pointed out that the Monongahela National Forest has a long history of unusual sightings, strange calls, and unexplainable encounters stretching back decades.

While no physical evidence was officially collected, the witness accounts remain consistent.

Their immense value really is in the cold water that they provide to... larger water systems or larger rivers downstream.

I mean, a great example of that is there's a wonderful river called the Greenbrier River in West Virginia, and its headwaters are roadless areas in the Monongahela National Forest.

Right before COVID, one of the last places I fished was a place called the South Mills River in North Carolina, which is a wonderful wild brown and rainbow trout fishery whose headwaters are also in roadless areas.

That's the Pisgah National Forest.

That's completely arguable, but...

I was part of a study at WVU, a long-term monitoring study on brook trout populations in the Monongahela National Forest.

And a dear friend of mine who was a graduate student, he just graduated, he did a part of his study on the brook trout monitoring streams on brook trout thermal tolerance.

So to kind of see at what temperature the brook trout couldn't sustain.
