it was the logistics of it were so weird and i enjoyed it because like in a bad way like i wasn't like i i will never watch it again right but it was funny because like these two characters are trying to find love and then every like 30 seconds they'd have to be like but the sex purge but the sex rules it's like a tattoo on your wrist that you can choose what it looks like which i guess that's nice of the government but

Okay, if you're not following along at home, Lucy's talking about the movie called One Night Only that came out, what, two months ago? Starring Monica Barbaro and Callum Turner.

Yeah.

I saw an interview of them talking about the movie where the interviewer was asking about the politics of the movie.

And Monica Barbaro was like, yeah, I mean, it's a metaphor for today and restrictive government rules.

And Callum Turner was like, no, it's not.

It's just silly and funny and stupid or something.

But once I was like, fuck this stupid premise, I started having a – To be clear,

I'm like – I'm honestly like a 5 out of 10 mostly because I was lost in Monica Barbaro's eyes for most of the runtime.

So that's fine with me.

I'm Fraser, your host, and today we're taking a look at One Night Only, the 2026 film directed by Will Gluck and starring Monica Barbaro and Callum Turner.

And as always, we're answering one simple question.

It has that underlying purge kind of setup.

One night where the rules come off, but done as a comedy romance, and honestly, it's nothing like that movie beyond the ticking clock.

And leading the whole thing, you've got Callum Turner, who a lot of you will know from Masters of the Air, opposite Monica Barbaro, who was Phoenix in Top Gun Maverick, and then picked up an Academy Award nomination for playing Joan Baez in A Complete Unknown.

That's a seriously interesting pairing for a rom-com, and I didn't really know what to expect.
