Monastery Swiftspear

A prepared spell is a one mana sorcery to discard a card, then draw a card.

And something I talked about during my Reality Fracture cube review is that there's only two other one mana red prowess creatures, Monastery Swiftspear, one of the strongest red one drops of all time, and Soul-Scar Mage, which is very strong in the prowess space, though notably doesn't really see play outside of environments that are really in-- supporting prowess as an archetype.

The really unique aspect here is that this is a prowess creature that can trigger its own prowess.

You have a spell stapled onto it.

And just given that additional context of asking, well, what do other cards in this space look like, you get a decent clip of two mana prowess creatures and even some that are kind of weak when you get up to that mana value.

But all of the one mana red prowess creatures, I guess all three of them now, have been appealing.

And so being a prowess creature that can trigger its own prowess, if only once, that's similar enough to two cards where I can say, okay, for sure, Monastery Swiftspear is strong.

Not having haste is going to be a mark against the Battlemage, but then giving you a spell is something that probably puts it over.

Donc, c'est, euh, une énième one drop Prouesse qui a ses upsides par rapport aux autres.

Euh, a priori, la carte avec laquelle, euh, elle pourrait se battre, c'est Monastery Swiftspear.

Je pense que par défaut, c'est une moins bonne carte que Monastery Swiftspear et que ça va pas la remplacer.

Mais il y a des gens qui essayent des mix un peu nouveaux, euh, modernes.

Euh, on a vu typiquement des decks Prouesse qui jouaient des copies de Stormchaser Talent, euh, et qui mixaient un peu le, les Menaces, qui jouaient par exemple un peu moins de Slickshot Show-Off et un peu plus de one drop.

Euh ouais, moi, j'ai l'impression que c'est clairement moins fort que Monastery Swiftspear et que ça va être dur de profiter de, de sa deuxième capacité dans, dans le genre de jeu qui, qui veut jouer ça.

It's not a card, like, we're not cutting Monastery Swiftspear for it, and we're not cutting Faithless Looting for it, but we are kind of running it on top of those cards if we're trying to, if we're trying to go hard with this particular deck.

Um, yeah, it being a split card is, like, that's generally what, what we see with split cards.

Like, neither half is going to be better than the card it's influenced by, but the point is that we get them together.
