Molly of Denali

And then, as you just mentioned, you did Spirit Rangers on Netflix, which I know was a huge hit or is a huge hit.

Molly of Denali, which I know is very popular and is currently and probably just ending in Phoenix at the Heard Museum.

They did a whole Molly of Denali.

And then Paw Patrol, which obviously everybody knows.

But how hard is it to write an episode or like I know with Spirit Rangers, do you have to like – think a lot about that? Think about the character development? Or does it just come naturally to you? The storylines and developing things? Or does this take a lot of time and a lot of thought?

So, you know, sometimes it's, you know, when it comes to actually like zoning in on the premise, the episode idea that you want, You know, you already probably have a good sense of who the characters are, you know, based on kind of the show's previous developments and, you know, the previous episodes that have been made.

And then from there, it's like it's basically just, you know, kind of telling the story in the way you want to tell it.

And I think that for me, especially for writing for young audiences, for, you know, shows like Spirit Rangers and Molly of Denali, I really try to tap into like what my emotions were when I was a kid and also just like how I felt about certain things.

I have noticed, though, that Native American culture is becoming more mainstream.

My kids are watching shows like Molly of Denali.

I personally have watched shows like Dark Winds and Reservation Dogs and liked them quite a bit.

I've even found some Native-inspired musical artists.

So I decided to look him up.

But yes, Joey, you are a writer and a comedian, correct?

Yeah, comedian, TV writer, written for shows such as Paw Patrol, Spirit Rangers on Netflix, Molly of Denali on PBS, Rubble and Crew and doing a lot of stuff in sort of the greater dropout comedy sphere, Comedy Central, a bunch of other places.

So, yeah, I don't know.

I feel fortunate that I have done a lot of different kinds of writing and comedy and all those kinds of things in my life and career.

You know, I mean, writing for kids TV stuff like Spirit Rangers and Molly of Denali and all of that.

That's honestly just a past probably five or six years of my career thing.

Before that, I wrote for a lot of different comedy websites, which is a mix of like, you know, comedy satire articles mixed with, you know, comedy videos for the internet and stuff.
