Well, Bix just gave his assessment of Hans the German, the John Farnham... tribute concert over the weekend.

You brought it up, and I just said that was a bit strange.

it started i think it was a friday night black and white show before it became the you know famously the sunday six o'clock monster that it that it became but it was you know as we saw with that molly telemovie some years ago it was the inspiration of a couple of inspired a couple of creative people, one of whom was Molly Meldrum.

I think there was Michael Shrimpton, Robbie Weeks, these kinds of people who were working as directors and music journalists coming together to make this music show at a public broadcaster station at Riponleigh in Melbourne with not very much money, doing live performances with acts, visiting acts and, you know, famously of course, Countdown with Molly bringing new acts onto screen and catapulting their career you could go on countdown and then you could go and do a tour all around the pubs and everyone would come and see you

yeah the other thing that i think's really iconic about countdown and something that we lost forever when it ended i don't think you can discount how important it was to have that top 10 countdown of the top 10 songs just before the abc news started at 7 p.m and i'll tell you why it meant that Back then you had houses, most houses only had one TV and I'd be sitting there watching Countdown from 6 o'clock and dinner would start to be served and I'd be sitting at that dinner table with my mother and my father because they weren't going to miss the ABC News and they'd all be there watching those top ten shows go down and I'd hear my mother and father say, oh that's terrible, oh...

And David cleverly surrounded him with all those young people that were involved with commotion.

And it was one of those Esther Zirko that came up with the name Uptight, which was in word in those days back in the 60s.
