Mobile River

Yeah, well, so the Mobile, like...

And historically, Mobile would not have been part of the Mississippi watershed because it would be the Mobile River watershed.

You can define a watershed by the mouth of the river.

So where does that river hit the ocean? That is the final point of a watershed.

There's this, we need to have boats go here and there.

And so eventually people decided, oh, we want boats to be able to travel from Paducah, Kentucky to Mobile, Alabama, without having to make their way down the Mississippi and cutting over on the coast.

And so the Ohio River, the Tennessee River watershed is linked to the Mobile River watershed.

through man-made canals.

And I run the museum.

It's about 100,000 square foot museum that sits right on the Mobile River.

That's amazing.

When did you first find yourself over at that museum?

But even Mobile doesn't pull drinking water out of the rivers that come into the Mobile Bay.

Mobile River, Alabama River, Tensall River, and then there's a couple of other small ones.

But those are the three major rivers that are draining southern Alabama.

You know, they all come down into the Mobile Bay.

I think that'll move those fish up and kind of make them a little more predictable You know, right now, they're catching lots of flounder, but that's really about it.

But they're also, in the same breath, catching mangrove snapper on structure in the Mobile River.

So there's plenty of salinity.

Well, this is years and years a- a- away, but when they build the new bridge, it's gonna be three lanes in each direction.

So coming off the bridge of the Mobile River heading east, you don't want it funneling into a two-lane Bayway, so they're gonna re-stripe it for three lanes.

I'd be concerned about that.

My, my opinion o- on this, and I'm not...

I don't like this idea at all, and I, I will let, will let this be known.

I think if you're gonna have three lanes coming over the, the Mobile River on go- hitting eastbound, what do you do with the third lane? I think you just force that third lane an exit-only capacity onto the Bayway.

I mean, that to me, and, and you just figure out a way to get that third lane.

So they amalgamate more closely with the Choctaw through time, but you have a variety.

You know, there's 40 tribes along Mobile Bay and Mobile River in terms of towns, and the Europeans thought of them as distinct nations, each town.

So the Mobilio, the Naniwaya, and on and on.
