Moab

Could it get any clearer? First, I want to show you these locations' names.

We have the Moab with petrified dunes.

Of course we do.

Then we have more arches that we are told are naturally occurring.

Um, uh, I'm kind of back and forth.

There's been several times at Moab where you crest on top of something.

It happened at Barrett Lake.

There were several times you crest over the top of something, and I kind of felt like I really needed to get out and see what I was dropping into because I absolutely could not see what I was dropping into.

I'm going to do a 50 mile race.

So a buddy and I chose the dead horse ultra out in Moab, Utah in 2020.

And I tell you what guys, when I finished that race, I said, I would never do one again.

It was not on my radar.

um he's a very good marathoner so i went out to chicago he ran the marathon in two and a half hours i ran it in like four hours and 15 minutes and we never saw each other but it was a good a good time to just to get together um but then i took a long break before i actually did that was my first ultra the dead horse um And that was tough.

I mean, I think if you look at the profile, the climbing's not outrageous, maybe like 7,050 miles.

But it's just that slick rock and that kind of weird rock they have out there in Moab just beat me up.

And I knew nothing about nutrition.

And so anyways, it also just wasn't really my favorite product, but Jeep's really known for off-roaders and that's what the Recon is.

So it's launching with the Moab trim, which is basically their equivalent of like the Rubicon or Trailhawk trims as they call them on the gas ones, which means you get 33 inch all-terrain tires, 9.1 inches of ground clearance, locking rear diffs.

bunch of skid plates and really aggressive final drive gearing on that rear motor for really good climbing.

So you get all this off-road gear plus removable doors, giant moonroof, or if you want a sliding fabric roof and like 670 horsepower.

Yeah.

So we haven't talked about the two big numbers, I think, for any EV and maybe especially for ones where like they don't match super well, price and range.

The Recon starts with this Moab trim is the first one you can get, right? There will be cheaper ones later.

And more road oriented, which is

yeah see if you can't find yep there you go some of the visuals are I mean they're absolutely absolutely it's stunning.

You know, the other thing, like we, my wife and I, a long time ago, God, it was probably maybe seven years ago, we drove out west and we went to Moab, Utah.

And there's so many natural parks out there to a point where like the town of Moab is like the base camp for all these natural parks.

And they have all these different tours and it's just like an ecotourism destination.

Yeah.

We're conscious of that.

For listeners' benefit, you've done the likes of Moab, you've done Cocodona, Western States, you've done that this year as well.

Now that you've done Race Across Scotland, is there a race or an adventure still calling you?

Yeah, so there's still a couple of dream races that I want to do.

And it's a country song.

Justin Moore, I think is what his name is.

it's one that I use in Moab on like repeat because the tune and like you can sing along with it and it's just kind of fun and light-hearted and if you're ever down in the dumps it just kind of because it is just so fun so I

like it you'll definitely find yourself at some point over the course of three days down the dumps at some at some point we should say Finish time, 215 miles in 72 hours and 38 minutes.

And then the program ends with some kind of special event.

Sometimes we go to Moab so the guys can do a hike by the arches, which I had never seen before going on.

going out there for a stronghold program.

Sometimes we visit some of the colleges.

And

so we spent another few months with him and he was like, I'm going to move to, I think it went to Moab or something, you know? And, um, that was the stuff that was, that was, I started just slowly started to, um,

Kind of expand your, your understanding of what this life is about.

Yeah, well, I started to help people because I thought if I can help one person, save them from the Sunday night on the side of the mountain.
