Why do you think that's been such a challenge to get more of us coaching in the game?

It's hard.

First of all, coaching isn't easy.

It don't matter what color you are.

Just because you are a good player doesn't mean you're a good coach.

You have to be able to get on the ground floor with the players mentally and then figure out what are the buzzwords you need to make that transition and that progression happen.

I believe very much that, you know, I'm big into the hitting.

You are here, like you said, this is not new to you, and especially giving back and working with the youth new to you let me ask you two it's a two-part question one when you think about your development your career what's the best advice you ever got about just managing the game of baseball and what's the best advice part two of that is you can give these young guys when they're going through and they're just man coach mode let me let me just ask you about handling things off the field

Mm-hmm.

And I think that's what the issue is.

No one's trying to...

You know, if, if a club tells you, "Well, we don't really care about average," then how do you really get better? What do you shoot for? It was pride, you know, when we played, about the batting average and how important it was.

Um, you know, I even had, was able to have, you know, get 200 hits in a season twice in Fenway Park, which makes it easier on lefties, but it was all about pride.

We wanna hit well.

We wanna hit with men in scoring position to get, you know...
