Mo' Better Blues

Dick Anthony Williams is in Up 10...

No, no, is in, um, Mo' Better Blues with Samuel Jackson.

Samuel Jackson is in Django Unchained with our friend Omar Dorsey.

Mm-hmm.

All right, I got to do a Spike Lee joint here.

It's either The Jungle Fever or Mo' Better Blues.

I'll go Mo' Better Blues.

And then we got to go, I think it's all Tarantino from there on.

Django Unchained.

He made 13 movies in 14 years, which is wild.

Starting in '86 with She's Gotta Have It, '88, School Daze, '89, Do the Right Thing, 1990, Mo' Better Blues, 1991, Jungle Fever.

'92 is Malcolm X.

Uh, '94 is Crooklyn.

Reverse 10 to one, okay? Number 10, Summer of Sam.

Number nine, Da 5 Bloods.

Number eight, Mo' Better Blues.

Number seven, BlacKkKlansman.

And do you know the, do you know the filmography off the top of your head? How do you, how does he, how does, how does he get from Do the Right Thing to Clockers?

Um, Do the Right Thing, Mo' Better Blues-

Mm

...

I've said this story.

Uh, there's a mo- a Spike Lee movie called Mo' Better Blues.

Oh, yeah.

And, uh, ever since I saw that movie when I was a kid, I was like, "I wanna own a jazz or blues club." [laughs]

D'Urville Martin is in five on the Black hand side with Dick Anthony Williams.

Dick Anthony Williams is in "Mo' Better Blues" with Denzel Washington.

Denzel Washington is in "The Preacher's Wife"-

Mm

it was in D.C.

But I always was intrigued by that because, like, you know, of course, you think about the intro to The Roots, Things Fall Apart with the Mo' Better Blues excerpt where Denzel Washington's character says, why don't any black people come support us? You know what I mean?

Like you

look into the crowd and you see everybody, you see white people, you see everything but our own people.
