Mitch Griffis

I can see myself as well, so, um, I'll ju- I'll just say that I think that, that a lot was left on the table this week.

I think that better execution in the third quarter could've seen Mitch a little bit more, see what his potential could have been at least.

Yeah.

Maybe gotten Trey Burke in at the end there, but I think, I think just from watch-- Look, just looking at the box score, seeing how many punts we had [chuckles] and see- seeing how many charms we had, just a little disappointing there.

So I, I think, I think this is actually gonna be pretty good.

And I, I s- I say this before the game, like if anything, this is the time to put Emory in and kinda switch up the season, and that this could be a, a, just a, a subverted game plan that the coaching staff had all along.

And I mean, it, it feels like it is because no one's really talked much about Mitch after the game.

Like, like nobody even- Said, "All right, cool," like, you know, "Wish we could've seen Mitch," but I haven't heard anybody say that yet, so.

Diego Pavia, 150 rating in his first two games.

Mitch Griffiths.

The East Carolina quarterback actually had a higher passer rating in that first Keelan Russell.

So he is in the top 10 of really top six of quarterbacks who have faced Alabama.

The Eagles are a very solid and a well-coached FCS program, but they gave up 42 points to Texas Southern and 44 points to Gardner-Webb in their two losses at the FCS level earlier this year.

For the Pirates to get where they want to go this season, either the seventh-year senior Mitch Griffis, the starter, or the Miami Hurricanes transfer Emory Williams, the backup, has to emerge as an above-average starting QB.

In last week's 20 to 17 victory at ODU, ECU's two touchdowns came on a trick double pass play by the offense and a pick six by the Pirates defense, and that is just not a sustainable way to win football games.

ECU is a 31-point favorite over Central, but that Pirates offense needs to put up some big numbers against this lesser opponent to build some confidence because the team's eight-game American conference schedule begins in just two weeks.

My actual phone's in my pocket.

And when I looked and saw you guys had texted me, look, Mitch Griffis is like full on sprinting down the sideline.

And I'm like, perfect timing.

Wow.

Like, if, if Emory Williams isn't playing, there's a reason.

Mitch Griffiths is better.

But could you say that about Rio and Shane? Could you say that [laughs] about Garcia and Houser?

Yeah.

Yeah

...

Mitch Griffiths does.

And look, we've seen Mitch Griffiths make plays, you know, having to escape the pocket, um, and not as on a consistent basis as we want to be.

Um, some box score notes.

Uh, so our starter, Mitch Griffis, went 10 of 16 for 137 yards, a touchdown and a pick.

Uh, really could not, we could not do anything in the run game.

And now we did get down so it, you know, you're always gonna, uh, look worse when that's the case.

You know, the guy, the guy who went offsides, and they're two good players, um, but, but they didn't even affect the play at all, so that was very frustrating.

Um, the, the end of the first quarter into the second quarter w- was a complete catastrophe.

We snapped the ball 20 yards over Mitch Griffis' head.

Um, w- we, we have to punt from our end zone, give up a huge, uh, punt return, and have a face mask, so we give them the ball right on the edge of the red zone.

And I thought the defense did a nice job of honestly covering all three options.

So poor old Mitch Griffis honestly didn't have a whole lot to go with it.

I think Terrence Green is gonna be a freaking animal right there at the nose guard position.

He and Kedrick Billings, uh, Bingley Jones, the transfer in, uh, those are two big bodied guys that they held their ground all day long and got good penetration or gang tackling.

You can tell that these guys know where to keep their eyes, where they're supposed to be.

The communication I thought was good, but every week it's gonna get a bigger and bigger challenge.

I just love that you referenced poor Mitch Griffis, and he's 25 years old, so

soWell, he, he's not a bad little quarterback.
