Fox 5 San Diego's Zara Barker has the latest on how community members are staying prepared.

In Mission Beach, some local vacation rental companies putting up sandbags to help keep homes and their guests safe.

And if you wanna get sandbags to protect your house, the city has 11 locations where you can pick up up to 10 sandbags per house, and that includes at the Pacific Beach Rec Center.

During this beach hazard, elevated surf of three to five feet may also lead to strong rip currents, putting San Diego lifeguards on high alert.

I live literally right there.

I think my most embarrassing gaming memory was during a time in high school when a friend of mine every year for his birthday would go to Mission Beach in California and his family would like rent one of these houses on the beach.

And we'd go for a week.

And so he invited me for three years in a row.

We also recently went to Mission Beach and now can't help but think of your questionable nighttime visit there.

Anyway, onto the story.

I was born and raised in San Diego, and growing up there, I've run into some small brushes with true crime.

But yeah, Jimmy Foxx that I worked with, I met him the night I arrived in San Diego.

First thing everybody did after Jimmy Foxx got off the air, they took me over to Jimmy Foxx's place on Mission Beach, overlooking the water there.

We smoked some of the best weed I ever had in my life.

And right away, man, it was just like my long-lost brother.

We have a lot to do.

Sandbag or not to sandbag in Mission Beach.

Trade jobs are back in San Diego and really all over Southern California.

People are dropping out of college, taking an internship, and making lots of money.

Curly thing.

That's a technical term in surfing.

All right, so what about the sandbags? In Mission Beach, there was some flooding, but there always is...

When we have high-serve advisories, and apparently some houses are built on the ground, and then some houses are built above ground.

St Kilda is the neighborhood.

This is the beach neighborhood, a mashup of Ocean Beach, maybe a little bit of Mission Beach in San Diego, as you can tell from the rollercoaster.

But remember that Ocean Beach in San Francisco used to have Playland at the Beach, a theme park on the beach, which actually inspired Walt Disney to make Disneyland.

That's why Disney's California Adventure has that California Paradise Pier.
