Miramar

We are going to set up homeless recovery centers across California where we can take people away from the crime and the chaos and the drugs in the urban centers, put them in safe, clean places where we can give them the help that they need to get their lives back on track.

We actually announced the first prototype, the prototype of the first one outside San Diego a couple of weeks ago at an unused part of the Miramar area.

federal land air base there and we're gonna we're gonna need up to 30 of these across the state and we're gonna get it done because this is unacceptable it's gone on for too long It's pathetic.

It embarrasses our state, our whole country.

It used to be the home of Top Gun.

So Fighter Town USA was right there in Miramar.

And I went to University City High School.

It's right next to it.

Like, I rarely do.

Only time I do, I was at Miramar and some guy was talking about it.

He was complaining about it.

And I was like, well, let me see what the prices are here.

I did actually do that.

You were saying that reminded me, though.

I did actually go to the Porsche dealership over in San Diego, the one off of Miramar.

Yeah.

Yeah, well, I'll tell you, it's such a great movie.

I had the privilege of, I was out in Miramar Marine Base.

Bailey, have you been to Miramar? You've been out there?

Yeah, I've got a fun story about Miramar we'll tell.

Yeah, so Bailey, he's a legend amongst us, just mere mortals, Mark.

Six years in the Marine Corps.

Yeah.

Yeah, absolute stud, base commander in the Marines, just all around incredible guy.

Yeah, so I reported on bases, as you mentioned, as a television reporter in various different markets in California and Texas and California.

I think the most significant, meaningful, and certainly for this book, informative experience was being at the Miramar base in San Diego, a Marine base, and reporting on the death of a young Marine and just a regular daily training mission.

and spending time on that base.

And for me, my experience on base, and I was really lucky, actually, I'm still not sure how they let me on.

We are going to set them up across the state, outside of these city centers.

The one that we announced on Saturday is going to be the prototype on unused military base, the Miramar base.

outside San Diego, and we're going to create safe, clean centers, cheap, quickly constructed shelters, where we can take people off the streets.

And give them the safe place where we can figure out what they need.
