Minnie White

She owns the stage.

This is Minnie White, a 63-year-old who, at that appearance, was at a high point of her musical career, which is not that bad considering her career only started when she was 55 years old.

Mary Agnes Hoskins was born in St Albans, Newfoundland in 1916.

It's a small town on the Baie de Soie, on an arm of Hermitage Bay in the south of the province.

She carries the traditional music of the province from kitchens and community halls onto television and stages, and is frequently cited by musicians in Newfoundland today.

Her journey through music brought joy to millions, and still does, while preserving and expanding the traditions of this region.

And that's why Minnie White is this month's Wonder Woman of the Month.

That was our incredible Wonder Woman of the Month, the traveller whose name is lost in the history books purely because of her gender.

I always say to the children who were involved, it's not your music to keep, it's yours to pass along.

And like people like Pius Power, Minnie White, Wolf of Skinchart, Emile Benoit, they couldn't wait to see people coming to their door so they could expose the music to them and share it.

And I learned that at a very early age in my career is that, you know, pass the music along to the next generation because it's important to keep it alive.

Yeah, I mean, look, I was into a lot of pop music and that sort of thing.
