Why Web Gaming Matters Again | Rafael Morgan, CrazyGames
R
8:32Rafael MorganGUEST
And it's been going on for a while.
R
8:34Rafael MorganGUEST
And the journey from web games, I've been in the industry now for, what, 12 years about? and working with web games um and there are some i would say challenging times right like but technology is evolving so much uh the game engines are really pushing uh they're making this also priority um and i think it's you know we see we see a lot of publishers also showing interest as well so i think it's only a matter of time um that you know the quality will just keep going up and up and and one of the things that if you think about it like me myself i used to play at miniclip um you know and at some point i'd switch it to a different platform i went to play like on the on the nintendo and so on but i think you know what what we're trying to do with crazy games as well is that you will have games for everyone during you know so we don't have to actually um go elsewhere so that's kind of the vision but uh but all in all it's i think it's been um it's been a good ride as well for and you know driving all those changes as well in the industry um and and i think as i particularly sit in a very interesting position because i get to talk to publishers i get to talk to to game engines i get out to to talk to uh ip holders uh other platforms and and then we see um you know everybody um actually interested into making the web um you know what it should be um open you know it's uh you as a publisher you can control the whole chain from the direct access to the user.
R
10:08Rafael MorganGUEST
And I think that makes the web quite interesting.
I
10:13IndyHOST
Right.
I
10:26IndyHOST
That's awesome.
R
10:27Rafael MorganGUEST
that's cool yeah it's available on mobile as well so we have a mobile web version and we also have on the mobile app so if you want to save it on your phone so you can easily play everything
I
10:37IndyHOST
i i played on my phone i also play on a pc as well okay so you were just talking about like the time like web games were big like with miniclip and all that and then it went away and then now they're big again so what what strategically changed for game developers that that cycle happened?
R
10:59Rafael MorganGUEST
Yeah, so, I mean, it was never gone, right? I think, you know, if we talk about the old portals, like, you know, they moved to mobile, there was more money there, so they became quite successful.

I know, you know, the Gower brothers were cooking, and they did a lot right to build this beautiful game, but I think we all gotta admit, there's a lot of, like, happy accidents with this game.
H
46:41HoytHOST
Also with, like, just how popular it became on Miniclip when it came out, like, and that big wave, and then...
H

the way they designed it where mobile is so, like, possible compared to something like, you know, any other MMORPG that could never really be on mobile helped OSRS in 2018 or 19 or whatever.
