Min Sun

One winter, his stepmother gave her own son's coats padded with warm silk and gave him one stuffed with reed catkins, just as plush but providing no warmth at all.

Min Ziqian never complained.

The truth only came out when he was driving his father's carriage and grew so cold that he dropped the reins.

His father was furious and threatened to send his wife away.

Min Ziqian pleaded with him to let her stay, saying, With mother here, one son is cold.

With mother gone, three sons are left alone.

His father relented, and his stepmother treated him as her own son from then on.
