Millfield

And obviously, we spent a lot of time together building up to qualifiers and ultimately the World Cup.

We were really lucky to have a Millfield school trip at the start of last season, which was our first time together as a group.

And we're really lucky that it was sponsored by Andy Duff at Stirling Trucks, who's looked after the group for a while now in terms of... helping us out financially with tours like that as well.

So it was a great start to the campaign and that then led to our summer fixtures leading into the under-19 qualifiers, as you mentioned, in Dundee last year, which was great to have a home qualifiers and managed to come out on top after a nail-biting game against the Dutch at the end.

I remember having... a few reflection sessions after games and talking with the lads and um at one point it was like pulling teeth away but with the lads initially but i think um just slowly starting to build that and introduce that and and the breakthrough we had was our millfield trips that camp away when the boys around each other for a whole week we've got a six-hour van trip and the boys are in charge of what playlists they're playing and where we're stopping for lunch you start to see um see boys come out of their shell and start to talk to each other more um and obviously you know they grow up playing regional cricket against each other they grow up playing club cricket against each other but i think the big thing for me is how can we break down those regional barriers which those national teams do really well and you know we've got boys from All around Scotland, we've got boys that are Scottish qualified playing down in England as well in the last group.

So to bring all those boys together, have a week of cricket, but also just a week together.

That's when Millfield is really, really special for me as a kind of pinpoint in our last campaign moving forward.

And I think we got a lot of good work covered there.

But when you say that picture's on, That's the appetite for schoolboy rugby, doesn't it? You know, there's so many good games out there.

Bedford, Radley College this weekend, Christ College versus Millfield.

I mean, they just keep coming.

So so then then Joey Van Linden suggested Millfield.

And then I he sent me he sent me to Millfield in September of 1966.

And then he passed away two days after Christmas in the States.

But I went back to the States for Christmas.

He was an amazing educator.

He really understood.

At that point, he had 800 boys and 200 girls at Millfield.
