Millennium Force

Do you know what broke it? No.

It's Millennium Force, 2000.

So that was the first giga coaster.

Oh.

Now, as far as best rides go, Siren's Curse was our favorite.

You know, it's pretty tough because Siren's Curse, Steel Vengeance, and Top Thrill 2 and Maverick and Gatekeeper and Millennium Force are all pretty spectacular.

The reason we liked Siren's Curse the best, and we talked about it and agreed on it, the thing about Siren's Curse was it has two elements that we really liked.

This is the roller coaster that you get to the peak of the hill, and it's on sort of a platform, and the platform's jutting straight out, but then it's on a pivot, and it pivots down and then holds you there over the top of the hill, looking straight down, similar to what you experience on Yukon Striker, where it just holds you before it drops you.

And she said, it feels like you're flying, right? And I'm like, yeah, that's exactly what it felt like.

In fact, I said so.

Speaking of flying, when you're on Millennium Force, that is a super fast coaster with big hills.

And that's a crazy one too.

Yes, I have.

Right, like Millennium Force, right? You've been on Millennium Force.

About as crazy as it can be, right? Skydive and multiply that by 20, right? And that's how different it was.

The scrimmage in the big house, which was my legs felt like they didn't work at times, to the real game with the crowd and the expectation and all that, right? And so our cadence was just ready, set, go.

It's almost straight down.

I think Millennium Force is the name of it or something like that.

They've got a shitload of roller coasters.

Well, okay.

Hit me with the best rides.

So Millennium Force is, like, that's been around for a long time now.

Okay.

I went on that as a kid many times, and-

That's the one that I remember from childhood, just people being like, "Get ready for the Millennium Force," this thing.

[laughs]

It's like...

And that is credited as kind of kicking off, uh, the, the 2000s roller coaster wars when parks just started trying to outdo one another with, like, the tallest or the steepest drop or, like, craziest incline or whatever, most number of loops.

And I kind of used some of those skills to bring the blog to life at Cedar Point, which was a first for us.

Monty Jasper actually was the first person that did it during the construction of Millennium Force, if you remember.

First theme park to have that kind of diary online.

So technically, that was a blog, but we didn't sell it as such.

Favorite roller coaster you've ever ridden?

Okay, so favorite coaster of all time is Millennium Force, only because sentimental value to me.

I'm not going to talk about its forces.

...

Millennium, when you compare that to Millennium Force or Top Thrill 2 or something like that, it's just really kind of, it's almost quaint.

But it was just, it's a great ride.
