Millard

Everybody was talking about all the way back in August.

and that is defending state champion Millard South taking on Omaha Westside, littered with Division I talent and even young talent that is sure to be a high-end talent at the collegiate level.

Grant, this one is exciting.

Yes, it is.

We talked to Westside head coach Paul Lamangi not that long ago.

We're excited to be talking to the head coach of the Millard South Patriots, Taylor Mendenhall.

Coach, appreciate you being with us.

How has this week been like for you, especially with all of the attention on this game?

Yeah.

I guess my next question for you then, may be a little bit based off of what you just said, but i- is part of this because state softball has looked a certain way in the way that the state tournament has been, that the next part of that conversation is, okay, if we move it, does it have to look like it's been where it's at one facility? Or can they adjust and move it like state baseball where you're at different locations and you're able to, you know, put Class C at Millard North, and you're able to put Class A, uh, at Connie Clausen, and Class B-

Mm

... is able to play somewhere else? Is that maybe more realistic?

... where you could do this.

Both Gretnas have full t- turf fields.

Millard West has full turf field.

Papillion La Vista South has a full turf field.

And they were like, "Oh, no.

Like, I went to, I went to whatever Millard school, and I just was on this travel team."

And you played with, like, the Junior Lancers or-

Yes

Robbie's more convinced to be...

I can't pull him away from Millard North games on Friday nights.

That's true.

That's true.

I want, I wanna be able to be at your games.

Let us go to your games.

Sorry, you said Millard North, so I stopped listening.

That's fine.

And I'd love to go back and learn a little bit about growing up in Omaha and what you – which high school?

Millard North.

Millard North.

So you're a Millard girl.

Loved it.

What kind of things did you take part in in

Non-starter.

Let's go to Sean and Millard.

Here's a little advanced chess for you.

Illinois just parted ways with...

I just maybe maybe there's a coach or two out there that would do that.

I don't think Nebraska has one of them.

And then another one from Sean and Millard.

Did it seem like Nebraska finally took the handcuffs up off of orange against Michigan state for the first three games of defense felt pretty vanilla, basic looks not showing much against Michigan state.

I'll, I'll be honest.

I'm, I'm just giving a fair warning as I wear my Millard North gear here today.

Uh, they got Elkhorn South tonight, which I will be at.

Um-

Uh, if like-

I've been waiting all day for a Thursday night-

If Millard North, like, were to lose in the state championship this year, knock on wood, we hope that doesn't happen-

Mm
