Miles from Home

It's 6.30 in the morning, September 1988.

Richard Gere sits in a mint green club chair, being interviewed about his new film, Miles From Home.

From this perch in Chicago, he will do 36 interviews in two days.

The first is with Fort Worth, Texas TV reporter Bobby Wiggint.

All of us had to believe very much in this film to go ahead and make it.

Therefore, I'm here, you know, happy to see that it's getting the coverage it should.

You probably never heard of Miles From Home.

The film wins no awards and earns only $189,000.

He did An Officer and a Gentleman in 1982, which is a big movie.

Then he goes to Honorary Consul, Breathless, The Cotton Club, King David, No Mercy, Power, Miles from Home, and then finally he gets Internal Affairs and Pretty Woman in 1990.

So big 1990 comeback for Richard Gere.

I heard this on another podcast.
