Mike McCoy

Senior British amateur champion, great player, as you guys know.

Mike McCoy won the senior amateur last year, won the mid-amateur, past Walker Cup captain.

Gene Elliott has won USGA titles.

Got a phenomenal player, Nate Smith, who's just lost in the finals of the playoffs.

So, uh, I, I kind of found it, uh, you know, probably Sunday is when I started eating it.

I saw Mike McCoy eating it at the bar.

I'm like, "That looks pretty good." So I had the salmon basically every single night, you know, as soon as I started playing well and winning matches.

But, uh, at the halfway they actually had bratwurst [laughs] a- and for the players to eat.

So, you know, you're, you're the reigning US Senior Amateur champion.

You were in the semis last year losing to McCoy, uh, who would eventually win that in 2025.

But I'm, you know, probably 2023, '22, at some point you're thinking about, "Okay, do I wanna start going down the road of, of getting my status back so I can play?" Like, take it from the top.

When did the idea kind of start coming to mind, and was there a specific game plan around it?

Yeah.

I...

You're probably not going down the stretch with Mike McCoy or against Todd White in Baltimore and saying, "Come on, hit that seven iron just like you did back in 1998 in Boise."

Boise."[laughs] No.
